FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Everything clients ask us about selling a vehicle through the auction lane. Tap a question to open the answer.

HOW IT WORKS

How does the auction consignment service work?
You submit your vehicle and ownership information through our website. Once the vehicle is reviewed and accepted, we list it for sale through Copart or another authorized auction platform. If the vehicle sells, pickup and payment processing are coordinated according to the auction requirements.
Do I have to sign an agreement for every vehicle?
No. You sign one Master Vehicle Auction Consignment Agreement. After that, you can submit multiple vehicles through the website. Each accepted vehicle submission becomes a separate consignment covered by the agreement.
Where do I enter my vehicle information?
All vehicle information is entered through our website. This includes the VIN, mileage, condition, title status, location, photographs, reserve price, lien information, and other required details.
Can I submit more than one vehicle?
Yes. You may submit multiple vehicles under the same account and Master Consignment Agreement. Each vehicle is reviewed and handled separately.
Is every submitted vehicle automatically accepted?
No. Every vehicle must pass our review and meet the auction platform's eligibility, title, ownership, condition, and documentation requirements.
What types of vehicles can I submit?
We consider cars, trucks, SUVs, vans, motorcycles, commercial vehicles, damaged vehicles, nonrunning vehicles, and other qualifying vehicles. Final acceptance depends on the vehicle, its documentation, its location, and the auction platform's requirements.

TITLE & LIENS

Do I need a title?

A complete and readable copy of the front and back of the current title is normally required before the vehicle can be listed.

Electronic titles, lien-held titles, lost titles, and replacement titles may require additional documentation and approval. Submitting a vehicle without an immediately available title does not guarantee acceptance.

When do I have to provide the original title?

If the original title is available, it must be turned over no later than one business day after a binding sale and before the vehicle is released or picked up.

If the title is electronic, lien-held, lost, or being replaced, you must provide proof of its status and begin the required title process promptly. The transferable title or approved ownership document generally must be provided within 10 calendar days after the sale—or sooner if required by Copart, the buyer, the auction platform, or applicable law.

Can I sell a vehicle that still has a loan or lien?
Possibly. You must disclose the lien and provide an accurate payoff statement and any requested lienholder authorization. A verified lien payoff may be deducted directly from the sale proceeds.

YOUR VEHICLE BEFORE & AFTER THE SALE

Where does the vehicle stay before it sells?
The vehicle stays on your property, land, lot, or another approved location until it is sold and physically picked up by Copart or its authorized carrier.
Who is responsible for the vehicle before pickup?
You remain responsible for the vehicle's security, insurance, storage, accessibility, and condition until the carrier physically takes possession and documents the pickup.
Can I continue driving the vehicle?
You must preserve the vehicle's mileage and condition after it has been accepted for auction. Any additional mileage, damage, warning light, mechanical problem, missing part, or other material change must be reported immediately. Continued use could affect the listing or sale.
Who picks up the vehicle after it sells?
After a binding sale, pickup is arranged through Copart or its authorized carrier. You must make the vehicle accessible, remove your personal belongings, provide all available keys, and cooperate with the scheduled pickup.
What happens if the carrier cannot pick up the vehicle?
You may be responsible for failed-pickup, rescheduling, towing, loading, storage, recovery, or special-equipment charges if the vehicle is inaccessible, has moved, is not in the disclosed condition, or cannot be released.
What condition information must I disclose?

You must truthfully disclose all known information that could affect the vehicle's ownership, safety, value, or transferability. This includes:

  • Accidents or structural damage
  • Flood, fire, or water damage
  • Mechanical or electrical problems
  • Warning lights
  • Airbag issues
  • Missing parts or keys
  • Odometer discrepancies
  • Salvage, rebuilt, lemon, or other branded titles
  • Theft history
  • Liens
  • Prior commercial use
  • Previous auction activity
  • Aftermarket modifications
What if the information I submitted changes?
You must update us immediately. Changes in mileage, location, condition, title status, lien status, mechanical condition, or ownership could affect the listing or sale.
What happens if incorrect information causes the sale to be reversed?
If a sale is rejected, reversed, or canceled because of an undisclosed lien, title problem, inaccurate mileage, missing vehicle, undisclosed damage, false information, or another owner-related issue, you may be responsible for the resulting refunds, transportation, storage, auction fees, rerun charges, and other direct costs.

PRICING, FEES & PAYMENT

Can I set a minimum price?
Yes. You can enter a reserve price for the vehicle through the website. The reserve is the minimum gross bid that may be accepted without obtaining additional approval from you.
What happens if the highest bid is below my reserve?
A bid below your reserve will normally require your approval. You may accept it, reject it, or allow the vehicle to be offered again, depending on the available auction options and deadlines.
What happens if the bid reaches my reserve?
Once a bid at or above your reserve becomes binding under the auction rules, you are required to complete the sale. You cannot raise the price, withdraw the vehicle, accept another buyer, or cancel simply because you changed your mind.
What is the seller service fee?

Our seller service fee is 15.99% of the gross Final Bid Offer.

The fee is calculated from the winning or accepted bid before auction fees or any other deductions are taken.

Are Copart or auction fees included in the 15.99% fee?
No. Copart or other auction-platform fees are separate from our 15.99% service fee. Applicable auction fees and other authorized expenses are deducted before your final payout.
How is my final payout calculated?

Your estimated Net Proceeds are calculated as follows:

Final Bid Offer – 15.99% Seller Service Fee – Auction Fees – Other Authorized Deductions = Estimated Net Proceeds

Other deductions may include a lien payoff, transportation, failed pickup, storage, title processing, document charges, taxes, inspection costs, chargebacks, or other authorized transaction expenses.

When will I receive my payment?

Payment is generally issued within five business days after we receive cleared auction funds and all required title, lien-release, identity, tax, and transfer documents.

Payment may be delayed if required documents are missing or if the transaction is subject to an auction hold, buyer dispute, lien payoff, reversal, or legal requirement.

Is a specific sale price guaranteed?
No. We cannot guarantee a particular selling price, number of bidders, reserve result, or amount of Net Proceeds. Market estimates are opinions and not guaranteed offers.
How long will it take to sell my vehicle?

There is no guaranteed sale date. Timing depends on vehicle acceptance, title documentation, auction scheduling, buyer demand, reserve price, vehicle location, and market conditions.

A vehicle-specific consignment may generally continue for up to six auction attempts or 90 calendar days unless a different period is shown in the vehicle submission.

SELLING RULES

Can I withdraw my vehicle before it sells?
You may request withdrawal before a binding sale. The withdrawal is not complete until we and the auction platform confirm it. You remain responsible for any auction, inspection, title, transportation, storage, recovery, or administrative expenses already incurred.
Can I cancel after the vehicle has sold?
Not without written approval from the licensed seller, the auction platform, and any affected buyer. Refusing to complete a binding sale may make you responsible for auction charges, transportation expenses, buyer-related losses, and other direct costs.

Am I selling my vehicle directly to Broker One?
No. Broker One Auction Assist coordinates the consignment and auction-listing process through an authorized licensed seller relationship. The vehicle is offered to eligible auction buyers through Copart or another approved auction platform.

Can I bid on my own vehicle?
No. You, members of your household, your agents, and affiliated persons may not bid on your vehicle or arrange bids intended to manipulate the auction.
